All vessel falling into the requirement of EEXI will need to have the required and attain EEXI calculated. To review the vessels impacted by the requirements, go to Compliance Planner.
The EEXI calculator includes:
· View and calculate the EEXI
· Compare the required and the attained EEXI
· Estimate and iterate the EPL
· Generate the EEXI technical file
· Send for approval
The DNV EEXI calculator present the input parameters, the calculated parameters, correction factors as well as the calculated required and attain EEXI. To make sure the EEXI figures are correct, you must check that the information in the calculator is correct.
The EEXI Calculator is available to DNV customers, as part of the fleet tools portfolio, and can be found under ‘Vessel services’.
The EEXI Calculator supports ships in DNV Class, but also non-DNV classed vessels.
The EEXI Calculator will by default only list the vessels subject for EEXI technical file approval. The accordion "Why is my vessel not in the list?", gives you the opportunity to understand why a specific vessel in your fleet is not in the list. Here you will also have an option to add it manually. You can also review the vessels impacted by the requirements by navigating to Compliance Planner.
For a fleet consisting of both vessel in DNV class and ships with other Classification Societies, the EEXI calculator list the vessels in DNV Class and give the customer the possibility to order access to the calculator for non-DNV classed vessel.
In EEXI Calculator you can toggle between ‘DNV Vessel” and “Non-DNV Vessel”
The table gives an overview of the EEXi values of the vessel in you fleet subject for EEXI.
The calculator is pre-filled with data stored in DNV Maritime Class production system and has already calculated the preliminary values based on approximated reference speed, specific oil consumption and auxiliary engine default values define in the EEXI calculation guideline. If preliminary values are used; this is indicated by the icon “Preliminary”.
If the vessel has an attained EEXI not meeting the required EEXI, this will be indicated with a red icon.
For non-DNV classed vessels, relevant data is taken from the Fairplay-database.
The calculator does not support calculation of the EEXI for passenger vessel or LNG vessels.
To make sure the vessel obtains the correct EEXI, you must verify the correctness of the information provided in the calculator.
You can always modify and improve the calculation by updating the input fields in the calculator and re-calculate. There are no limitations to the number of times. The results page is always available after the first time you have completed the first calculation.
Information needed as input to the calculation can be obtained from the following sources:
· Classification Certificates
· Trim & Stability Booklet and Lightweight Survey Report or Inclining Test Report
· General Arrangement plan, Engine shop test reports or the NOx Technical Files of A/E and M/E, NOx certificate
· Speed: Reference speed test value from sea trial reports or speed-power curve
If you are changing the prefilled values in the calculator, you will experience an exclamation mark. This is only for information that the figure differs from originally set
If you need to add more engines, use the + button. You can also delete if wrongly added.
If you are adding and/or changing values in the calculator, the tool will, depending on the change, ask you to upload the supporting documents. This will also be included in the technical file as appendixes.
Before calculation the result, there is a review page, where you can check that the data entered is the correct ones.
The EEXI result page shows the newly calculated required and the attained EEXI, but also the difference between the values. Red number indicates that the attained is above the required.
You can always recalculate and there are no limitations to the number of times you do so. The results page is always available after the first time you have completed the calculator.
Parameters and factor used in the calculation are all listed.
An EEXI technical file can be generated based on input data, the calculation and documentation that has been uploaded.
The table of content is according to the regulation.
If the vessel does not meet the required EEXI, changes to the design are needed. This might be a limitation of the installed main engine power. An indication on how much to reduce to meet the required EEXI is shown.
You will need to re-calculate using the proposed power and speed to reduce the EEXI value accordingly.
The EEXI technical file can be sent to approval either drectly from the results page:
or by selecting the vessel in the overview page. The latter also allows to submit the generated files for multiple vessels:
· Including the correction factors fj_gencargo, fj_roro, fiVSE, fiCSR, fiCb, fi(ice class), fc and fw
· First release
