Vessels with the Enhanced survey programme (ESP) notation must comply with the ESP Code. Before the main class hull renewal survey or main class hull intermediate survey can commence, an ESP planning document must be available.
If the ESP planning document is missing for an upcoming survey, DNV issues RR 1087 and asks the vessel owner to complete a mandatory questionnaire. This questionnaire triggers the document creation process at DNV.
A warning icon next to the relevant survey indicates that this process must be completed before the survey request can proceed.
Step 1: Identify the warning icon and the issued RR 1087 in the survey overview.
Step 2: If a warning message appears when requesting the survey, cancel the request and follow the process in this guide. If the main class hull renewal survey is not to be commenced at this time, remove it from the request.

Step 3: Open RR 1087 and use the link provided to access the mandatory questionnaire.

Step 4: Follow the link in the RR to open the Word questionnaire and enter the required information. This can also be done offline, for example by sending the Word document to the vessel. Information about access only needs to be entered if it deviates from the Ship Structure Access Manual, provided that this manual is available on board.
Step 5: Enter the name of the person who provided the information for the form, then save the completed file, for example in the default Downloads folder.
Step 6: Request deletion of RR 1087 by creating a survey request and de-selecting the other surveys.
Step 7: Make sure that only RR 1087 is included in the scope of the request.
Step 8: Select Remote survey.

Step 9: Select Submit.
Step 10: Select View to open the upload page.

Step 11: Upload the completed Word questionnaire that was saved earlier in the process.
The uploaded questionnaire is used by DNV to prepare the required ESP planning document for the vessel.
Once DNV receives the uploaded questionnaire, the ESP planning document will be generated through a manual process, published to the portal, and RR 1087 will be deleted. This process is free of charge.
